By default, Visio places the labels directly on top of the relationship. If this is hard to read, then you can alter the appearance by right clicking the relationship, then selecting Format, Text, Text Block and Margins.

You cannot insert Visio content into PowerPoint in Visio's native drawing format. Either you'll need to link to an existing or newly-created Visio drawing as an object - or export from Visio to a graphic format and thereafter import it into PowerPoint. Between the two methods, you'll have to choose the latter if you want to transport your presentation to a system without Visio installed. Let's examine the Insert | Object route:

Premier, a UK-based system integrator developed and implemented a Visio-based solution at a large British patient status and hospital bed availability. The hospital needed to overcome delayed patient care and improve operations within its critical care unit. Premier developed a solution so that with the functionality of a touch screen, nurses and clinicians need only touch the screen to update a patient’s status to signify when a bed becomes free. Furthermore, the hospital now has a much better way to identify care-provisioning bottlenecks and accept new patients into its care.
