built 286 days ago
The image returned again on Monday, the same night an image of the Virgin Mary appeared at the home of Bertha Durocher, about a block away from Lillian Aubichon's home. Durocher says she first noticed on her home early Monday evening but ignored it until shortly after midnight, when the glowing image became too noticeable to ignore.

This thirteenth-century sculpture The Death of the Virgin, at the Strasbourg Cathedral in France illustrates Christ accepting the Virgin Mary's soul into heaven. The most popular images in medieval art of Mary's death are the deathbed scene and the coronation in heaven.

The Virgin of Guadalupe visited Hanover Park in 1997, appearing on the wall of an apartment complex located at 2420 Glendale Terrace. The image appeared from shadows created by a security light that was angled at the building. When the light was turned off, the image vanished, but the faithful remained, convinced that a holy miracle had taken place. Today, at the southwest end of the parking, a tent is standing next to the building where it happened. Inside are hundreds of votive candles and a statue of the Virgin Mary.
During the late Middle Ages (13th century to 15th century), devotion to Mary grew dramatically. One of the principal reasons was the image of Christ that developed in the missionary efforts of the early Middle Ages. To the extent that the Goths and other tribes of central and northern Europe were Christian, they remained strongly influenced by Arianism, a teaching that denied the divinity of Christ. In response, preaching and the arts of this period particularly stressed Christ's divinity, as in the Byzantine depictions of Christ as Pantokrator (universal and all-powerful ruler) and in the western images of Christ as the supreme and universal judge. As Christ became an awe-inspiring, judgmental figure, Mary came to be depicted as the one who interceded for sinners. As the fear of death and the Last Judgment intensified following the Black Plague in the 14th century, Mary was increasingly venerated in popular piety as mediator of the mercy of Christ.

Mary is viewed as co-redeemer, the advocate, and is to be prayed to for forgiveness of sins. That is why actor Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus, asked "Mary and Jesus" into his heart. Roman Catholics call Mary the "Queen of Heaven" and images and statues have her crowned as such, in many ceremonies. Some ... believe that Mary ascended to heaven, and never faced physical death, with no Scripture to support any of these beliefs.
