Vioxx: People
built 450 days ago
With new recent Vioxx recall, there has been a huge boom in the number of lawyers and firms that are able to deal with lawsuits that are filed by people injured by the use of Vioxx. Because many of the side effects can be severe, irresponsible manufacturers are now being sued for millions in compensation by their victims. And there are many Vioxx lawyers just waiting to take up your Vioxx lawsuit.

On September 30, 2004, Merck withdrew Vioxx to limit its liability for manufacturing and marketing this defective drug. The building wave of lawsuits that had been filed and that will be filed due to developing scientific evidence forced Merck to withdraw the drug. Prior to Merck's decision to withdraw Vioxx, firms participating in the Wrongful Death Attorney Network had filed dozens of lawsuits for people who were injured using Vioxx and for the families of people who died after using it.
It still is not entirely clear how many people have been injured by Vioxx. FDA estimates place the number at more than 120,000 victims. The federal judge charged with handling pre-trial activities told lawyers that 100,000 people like will sue for injuries caused by Vioxx.
"Coronary artery disease is one of the leading killers in America, regardless of whether people take Vioxx," says Mr. Labbate, who isn't involved in the suits. He notes that Merck put a long list of warnings on the Vioxx label and has produced extensive research on the drug to the Food and Drug Administration.
Merck's problems aren't limited to Vioxx lawsuits filed by people taking the drug. The company announced on November 8, 2004 that two governmental agencies had launched a criminal investigation into the company's handling of the Vioxx withdrawal.
