The Global Campaign for Violence Prevention was launched following the release of the World report on violence and health, in October, 2002. The objectives of the campaign are to raise awareness about the problem of violence, highlight the crucial role that public health can play in addressing its causes and consequences and encourage action at every level of society. The Campaign serves as the main platform for implementing the recommendations of the World report on violence and health.

ACT—Adults and Children Together—Against Violence is a violence prevention project that focuses on adults who raise, care for, and teach children ages 0 to 8 years. It is designed to prevent violence by providing young children with positive role models and environments that teach nonviolent problem-solving. The project includes a national media campaign and training for community professionals.

The Children's Partnership ... encourages communities to participate in the "Blueprints for Violence Prevention" and other research-based anti-violence initiatives. Researchers at the University of Colorado's Center for the Study of Violence and Prevention analyzed nearly 500 violence-prevention programs from across the country and identified the 10 most effective.
