Burning NLF base camp The Vietnam War... known as the Second Indochina War and the American War, was a war from 1959 to 1975 in Vietnam. It was fought between North Vietnam (the Democratic Republic of Vietnam) and South Vietnam (the Republic of Vietnam). North Vietnam was supported by the USSR and China, while South Vietnam was supported by the United States with its allies South Korea, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. This conflict between communists and pro-American countries made it part of the Cold War.
Harder - The Vietnam War was a second phase of fighting in Vietnam. In 1946 Vietnam was part of the colony of French Indochina and the Vietnamese fought for their independence. The United States provided military equipment, but the French were defeated in 1954. Vietnam was then divided into North and South Vietnam.

During the Vietnam War, the United States government did not need to use propaganda to promote the war effort. The propaganda produced by the government during World War II was successful. The success of WWII propaganda carried over into the Vietnam War. The United States government did not have to win the support of its people for the new war. Americans had grown used to living in a militarized nation. They began to believe that war was a part of living in this kind of society.

The Vietnam War occurred in present-day Vietnam, Southeast Asia. It represented a successful attempt on the part of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam, DRV) and the National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam (Viet Cong) to unite and impose a communist system over the entire nation. Opposing the DRV was the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam, RVN), backed by the United States. The war in Vietnam occurred during the Cold War, and is generally viewed as an indirect conflict between the United States and Soviet Union, with each nation and its allies supporting one side.
The Second Stage of the Vietnam "War" was considerably more covert. With Ho Chi Minh in custody, the Americans fled from FVFR and Kentuckistan, leaving the two nations stranded and confused. Kentuckistan declared itself sole ruler of all Upper Kentuckistan (their name for FVFR) and on May 31, 1976, they began an elaborate media campaign and bombing mission to subjugate FVFR. The FVFR simultaneously proclaimed the Lesser State of Vietnamese Freedom (AKA Kentuckistan) under its rule and began an elaborate tunneling mission aimed at scaring residents in their sleep. The fighting was bloody and slipshod. Firstly, were was confusion on who was on who's side.

The Vietnam War... known as the Second Indochina War, and in Vietnam as the American War, occurred from 1959 to April 30, 1975. The term Vietnam Conflict is often used to refer to events which took place between 1959 and April 30, 1975. The war was fought between the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) and the United States-supported Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam). It concluded with the United States withdrawing under terms of the Paris Peace Accord of 1973 which preserved the division temporarily, but the North Vietnamese soon disregarded the treaty and invaded South Vietnam, which quickly fell without U.S. support, and the country was reunited in 1975. This has been described as a "total" victory on the part of the North Vietnamese.[5]
