The Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall-USA) is an on-line Vietnam War memorial. It was started in 1996 by the veteran Alan Oskvarek who became disabled in the Vietnam War. It is now run by unpaid volunteers of the 4th Battalion 9th Infantry Regiment Manchu (Vietnam) Association on a not-for-profit bases, and is supported by voluntary contributions. It uses the U.S.A. government's official database. The website has a search facility for names on the granite panels on the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington DC, USA. In 2006 the website reported at total of over 65,000 remembrances and photographs.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica will be in Tulare at the Tulare Veterans Memorial Park, directly behind the Veterans Memorial Building from Thursday November 29 to Sunday December 2. The address is 1771 W. Tulare Avenue, Tulare, CA 93274. "The Wall That Heals" bears the names of the 58,000 American veterans who lost their lives in the Vietnam conflict. The wall is 250 feet long. It is half the size of the original wall in Washington D.C.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, originally designed as a student project by Maya Lin at Yale University's School of Architecture in 1981, has become a profound symbol that has served to unify and reconcile a nation sorely divided by a foreign entanglement. Lin envisioned a black granite wall, in the shape of a V, on which the names of the American military dead and missing would be inscribed. The architect hoped that "these names, seemingly infinite in number, [would] convey the sense of overwhelming numbers, while unifying these individuals into a whole."

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial stands as a symbol of America's honor and recognition of the men and women who served and sacrificed their lives in the Vietnam War. Inscribed on the black granite walls are the names of more than 58,000 men and women who gave their lives or remain missing. Yet the Memorial itself is dedicated to honor the "courage, sacrifice and devotion to duty and country" of all who answered the call to serve during the longest war in U.S. history.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, located in Constitution Gardens, is best known for its Wall of Names. "The Wall" is made of black granite and inscribed with the names of those who served in Vietnam and died, or are still listed as missing. The Three Servicemen Statue and the Vietnam Women's Memorial Statue honor all Vietnam War veterans. A commemorative plaque, know as the "In Memory" plaque, recognizes those who died after the war, as a direct result of war injuries.

Along with this sculpture, The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated on November 13, 1982. Since that time more names have been added to the Wall of men who eventually died from injuries incurred during the war. Also during the mid 90's a Memorial to nurses who had served and died in Vietnam had ... been added.
