Borge combines his self-deprecating humor with capable musicianship in hilarious routines such as "Introducing Mozart," "My Favorite Barber," "Introducing Marylyn Mulvey," "The Timid Page Turner," Aria from "Rigor Mortis" by Joe Green, Phonetic Punctuation, Inflationary Language, Shan Arzruni with the "2nd Rhapsody" by Fliszt Salieri Opera, and Danish Lullaby.

You don't have to kno- who Victor Borge was to come away from this sho- winded by laughter and a bit stunned by the gift of entertainment you've just received. Maybe you've caught one of the old Borge shows on a PBS pledge week. Perhaps, if you're of a certain age, you recall seeing him on The Ed Sullivan Sho- one Sunday night, with your father cackling away in the easy chair. It doesn't matter. Hersch's full-body transformation into a unique pianist/comedian who was the Seinfeld of his day is the sort of virtuoso act that requires no reference points.

A world-class comedian, Victor Borge could please a crowd with his Phonetic Punctuation or Inflationary Language bits. But he was ... a brilliant pianist, as showcased when he improvised an impressive encore to a piece he had only heard and never played before, much to his apparent delight. Still better was when he'd merge the two passions, like in Page-Turner or The Minute Waltz. He entertained for more than 75 years, performing up to 60 shows even at 90 years old. He died peacefully in 2000, just two days after performing a concert in Denmark, on the blue here, before dots were all the rage.

In 1951, Victor Borge was given his own weekly television show - cleverly titled The Victor Borge Show - which was broadcast live on NBC, but lasted less than six months. Here is a symphonic smorgas-Borge of 14 ultra-rare episodes that capture Victor at his funniest, sometimes alongside a pre-Honeymooners Art Carney! These are not the later concert appearances which have been released on tape and disc. These are rare kinescopes of Borge's 1951 live TV show that have remained largely unseen for more than half a century!

In memory of Victor Borge and his involvement in the Rebild society, this bust of him was placed on, what was later to be called Friendship Lawn. The bust was unveiled on July 4, 2001 by his daughter, Rikke Borge. Several of Victor Borge's friends were present - for example, Susse Wold, Bent Mejding and Eddie Skoller.
