In 1951, NBC gave the great Victor Borge his own television show. Broadcast live, it lasted for less than six months before it disappeared, and the shows have been largely unseen ever since. Remastered from recently discovered 16mm kinescopes, 14 brand-new-to-DVD episodes capture Borge at his funniest, sometimes alongside a pre-Honeymooners Art Carney. The set ... includes rare Borge appearances on other shows. B&W; 6 hours 45 min. on 3 DVDs. Click for larger image.

Victor Borge, one of the greatest Danish entertainers of all time, was, and continues to be an important part of the Rebild Celebrations. He has stood on the stage in the Rebild Hills a total of three times, most recently in 1999 when he was named honorary president of the Rebild society.

[K]nown for saying that "the smile is the shortest distance between people," Borge has been called "The Great Dane" for his charitable contributions and international goodwill efforts. To acknowledge the heroism of Scandinavians who sheltered persecuted Jews during the Holocaust, he founded the Thanks to Scandinavia Foundation in 1963. Borge has been honored by the United States Congress and the United Nations, and knighted by the five Scandinavian nations.
Although becoming an American citizen, Borge remained a Dane - one of the Greatest - all his life - and he loved going back home - and make everybody break up in laughter! He made practically anybody trying to interview him break down - taking over shows in which he guested and everything - funniest maybe once was in a Swedish - for the reporter - scandalous TV Show, where the reporter wanted him to be serious - and that was impossible!
