In 2006 the website reported at total of over 65,000 remembrances and photographs.

Returnees were well aware that Americans were divided over the war, with growing numbers opposing it as troop deployments and casualties escalated and reports of atrocities and government deceptions circulated.

    Washington, DC -- The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is greatly troubled by the arrest in Vietnam of Le Quoc Quan. Le Quoc Quan, a lawyer, has recently been in residence at NED on a congressionally-funded Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellowship, pursuing independent research on the role of civil society in emerging democracies. He was arrested on March 8 in his hometown in Nghe An province, only 4 days after his return from Washington to Vietnam. At this time, Le Quoc Quan's whereabouts are unknown, and there are no public charges against him.

    The Vietnam Veterans of Southern Minnesota decided in 1986 to erect a monument to their comrades who died in combat in Vietnam. The setting of the memorial is significant: Corporal George Stoltzman was the first man from this area to die in Vietnam. The street is named after him. A local artist, Tom Maegher Miller, created the monument, based on input from the veterans' group. Vetter Stone delivered an eight ton block of Kasota stone to the farm where Tom carved his last statue.
