TiVo added another remote programming option called TiVo Mobile - a partnership between TiVo and Verizon Wireless that allows subscribers to remotely schedule DVR recordings from their mobile phones. What's the point?Seriously.

Verizon has fired off its second patent action at a cable VoIP provider, this time against Charter Communications in Texas. Verizon is claiming eight patent breaches, a copycat of its action against Cox Communications in Virginia. Two of the patents are the same Verizon successfully sued VoIP pure play Vonage for.

Verizon's 10.6% earnings per share growth forecast for 2008 is less than the industry average and the S&P 500. The analysts' consensus recommendation is to buy Verizon, though 16 of the 29 analysts rate it a hold. The share price fell to a 52-week low of $35.40 last week, from a three-year high of $46.24 in October.

Verizon DSL currently requires a computer running Windows or MacOS to perform a standard installation, but this is only during initial setup of the DSL modem. Manual workarounds are possible with other operating systems as long as a web browser supporting javascript is available.
