Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) opened at 44.42. So far today, the stock has hit a low of 44.42 and a high of 45.00. VZ is now trading at 44.89, up 0.52 (1.17%). The stock hit its 52 week high of 46.24 in October and set its 52 week low of 35.60 in March. VZ has been generally higher for the past year. Verizon Wireless announced this morning it has activated two new cell sites near Griswold and in Oakland, Iowa.

NEW YORK, March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Communications Inc. VZ today closed on the sale of its interest in Telecomunicaciones de Puerto Rico, Inc. (TELPRI) to a subsidiary of America Movil, S.A.B. de C.V. AMX. The buyer purchased 100 percent of TELPRI, the holding company of Puerto Rico Telephone Company (PRT), including Verizon's 52 percent interest. The other shareholders were the Puerto Rico Telephone Authority, which owned 28 percent; Popular, Inc., 13 percent; and the company's employee stock ownership plan, 7 percent. The transaction previously received the approval of the Federal Communications Commission.
