Vasectomy
built 816 days ago
The No-Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) was originally developed in China in the early 1970's by Dr. Li Shunqiang. It was found to greatly reduce complications found with standard vasectomies. Over 15 million men have undergone the NSV.

Vasectomy is the process of dividing the vas (the tube that delivers the sperm from the testis to the prostate) in order to prevent conception. It is the most common method of male contraception in this country where about 500,000 vasectomies are done each year. Since vasectomy simply interrupts the delivery of the sperm, it does not change the hormonal function of the testis and sexual drive and ability remain intact. Since most of the semen is composed of fluid from the prostate, the semen will look the same. Vasectomy is thought to be free of known long term side effects, and is considered to be the safest and most reliable method of permanent male sterilization.
Vasectomy is right for you if you are absolutely certain you wouldn't want to father any more children under any circumstances. It would be best if you and your partner made this decision together and considered all other kinds of birth control. Vasectomy is intended to be permanent, so it wouldn't be right for you if you entered into it with the idea that you could "always reverse it later"
Before and after vasectomy Vasectomy is usually done in the surgeon's office under local anesthesia. You will be awake, but will not fee any pain. A small cut is made in the upper part of the scrotum, and the tubes (vas deferens) are tied off and cut apart. Stitches are used to close the wound.

vascetomy Vasectomy does not protect a man from sexually transmitted infections, including HIV infection. A man who is at risk for these diseases should use a condom every time he has sex, even after vasectomy.
