Through the generosity of Fred Beans Ford, Miguel Garcia and his grandson were provided with a new van after theirs was stolen from outside their East Mount Airy home.

To start the season, and to promote the Safe Driving initiative, AT&T will customize approximately 200 service vans across the country to reflect the look and feel of the No. 31 AT&T Chevrolet. Driver Jeff Burton will be on hand when the first wrapped vehicle is rolled out Friday, Feb. 15, at the Daytona Speedway AT&T retail store (Daytona Beach, Fla.). At the unveiling, Burton will officially sign the Safe Driving pledge, along with Rudy Hermond, vice president and general manager, AT&T North Florida, and a representative service van driver.

In 1976, skateboarders began wearing Vans shoes and asked to have different colors combined on them. Vans reacted to their customers' wants and on March 19, 1976, came out with the first Era--in red and blue. This shoe was designed by two professional skaters, Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta. Over the next few years, many different color combinations were introduced into the Vans line. The Slip On was added in 1979 in a multitude of color combinations and quickly became the craze of Southern California.
