Well, this season for the Vancouver Canucks was one of new beginnings. The Canucks embarked on a new journey when they set up shop in Sweden for the 2000-01 Training Camp. The NHL was all buzzing about the heirs to the Canucks future, Daniel and Henrik Sedin. The Twins had become a staple for new, hopeful beginnings in Vancouver.
The Vancouver Canucks are an ice hockey team from Vancouver, BC and compete in the Northwest Division of the National Hockey League ( NHL ). So far, the Canucks have made it to the Stanley Cup final game twice since their creation in 1970. In 1982 the Vancouver Canucks played the New York Islanders for the Stanley Cup and lost. Then again in 1994 the Canucks played against the New York Rangers for the Cup, but lost.
Hoping to bring Lord Stanley’s Cup back to Lord Stanley’s Park for the first time since 1915, the Vancouver Canucks begin the postseason with one big loss. Without the scoring, size and toughness of the suspended Todd Bertuzzi, the Canucks will need a strong showing by the players added near the trade deadline. Vancouver was very busy playing the market and bolstering their line up with the anticipation of the postseason. The team brought in Geoff Sanderson from the Columbus and Martin Rucinsky from the New York Rangers. Accompanying the new arrivals, the Canucks will look to its number one scoring line of Markus Nasland, Brendan Morrison, and Matt Cooke. Much needed post-season experience will come from Mike Keane, Trevor Linden, Ed Jovanovski, and Marek Malik.

Vancouver Canucks Tickets The Vancouver Canucks were founded in 1970 by Thomas Scallen, Lyman Walters and partners as an NHL expansion franchise. But hockey had been part of Vancouver far earlier, with the Vancouver Millionaires of the Pacific Coast Hockey League winning the Stanley Cup in 1915. The team's first general manager was Norman "Bud" Poile and he selected former NHL defenseman Hal Laycoe to be the Canucks first coach. The Vancouver Canucks played their first game in the fall of 1970, losing 3-1 to the Los Angeles Kings. They would finish out of the playoffs in their inaugural season and struggled for the next couple of years. Their first taste of postseason play came in the 1975 playoffs when the Canucks took on the powerhouse Montreal Canadiens.

From 1988 to 1997, the Vancouver Canucks were owned by local businessman and philanthropist Arthur Griffiths, who had inherited the ownership from his father, Frank. However, he was forced to sell his majority interest in the Canucks after overextending his resources trying to build a new arena, General Motors Place. As a result, he sold his majority share to American billionaire, John McCaw.
