In early 2007 the Aquilini Investment Group, led by Vancouver businessmen Francesco, Roberto and Paolo Aquilini, completed their purchase of the Vancouver Canucks and GM Place. In March, 2005 the group bought 50% of the two entities from John McCaw for a grossed up price of $207 million. The Aquilini Group is involved in real estate development, including hotels, residential apartments, golf courses and blueberry farms.

In November 2006, Aquilini, along with his two brothers, purchased the remaining 50 per cent of the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Place from McCaw. The Canucks officially abandoned their old red alternate jerseys and replaced them with the once popular retro stick and blue uniforms from the ‘70s. In April 2006, Vancouver fired Crawford. Alain Vigneault, who had coached Vancouver's AHL affiliate, was hired to replace him in June. Crawford was hired by the Los Angeles Kings.

Vancouver's upcoming March schedule will be a grueling one, as they spend a majority of it on the road, facing tough rivals. On March 17 and March 21 be there to support the canucks in General Motors Place, as they host first the Coyotes and then the Wild.
