The Canucks ended the day with left winger Matt Pettinger, who had seven points in 56 games with the Washington Capitals this season. And the cost was a roster player, left winger Matt Cooke, who has 16 points in 61 games.

The Vancouver Canucks got past the first round of the playoffs for the second time since 1995. The Dallas Stars are going home quickly for a third straight season. Trevor Linden scored the go-ahead goal on a power play seven minutes into the third period to lift the host Canucks to a 4-1 win last night in Game 7, ending the Stars' attempt to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the best-of-seven first-round series.
