Valderrama Golf Club: Robert Trent Jones
built 290 days ago
The Las Brisas Golf Club was founded by Jose Banús in 1968 under the name "Club de Golf Nueva Andalusía", and he would remain President of the Club until 1981. The American Robert Trent Jones, already considered by many as one of the best designers of golf courses in the world first finished constructing the Sotogrande course, then designed and constructed Las Brisas, and would then go on to design the Naranjos and Valderrama courses. The route, designed by Robert Trent Jones, presents several water obstacles, with ten artificial lakes fed by two streams. The greens are elevated for the most part, and are very well protected by bunkers. The consequences of his designs are layouts that require precision golf
Valderrama was constructed in 1974 to the designs of leading American golf course architect Robert Trent Jones. Before switching to its present name, it was known as "Sotogrande New" and "Las Aves". In 1984 it was acquired by a new owner, Jaime Ortiz-Patiño, and expanded by the original architect. By 1999, it was rated the number one course in mainland Europe by Golf World magazine.
The Valderrama golf course, Spain’s most exclusive, was designed by Robert Trent Jones. First opened in 1974, then redesigned in 1985, its immaculately tended fairways meander through rolling hills lined by cork oaks. The privilege of playing a round here is the stuff golfers’ dreams are made of. The club is ... home to a unique museum with displays of the earliest examples of golf balls and clubs, along with books, etchings and other antique golfing paraphernalia.

Club de Golf Valderrama is considered to by many to be the European equivalent of Augusta. A Robert Trent Jones Sr. design of 18 holes right in the heart of the Andalusian countryside and maintained with such care that European and American players will think they are playing in heaven, although a lapse of concentration could rapidly be changing this view.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones this nine hole golf course is situated next to the famous Valderrama Course in the town which has the biggest number of golfers in Spain. Originally built for the workers and green keepers of Valderrama, this has turned it self into a pretty little golf course for those of you who would like a quick round of golf in the eveining. With well groomed fairways and immaculate greens this course will please all but watch out for the Glen at the ninth which makes the course popular with the locals.
