Ms. Buc received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and her Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Virginia, and was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree from Brown University. She has served as both a trustee and a fellow on the Brown University Corporation, Brown's governing body. She is a director of the National Partnership for Women and Families.

In addition, the University announced that Roger G. Kennedy, Director Emeritus of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, and former Director of the National Park Service, is being honored with the 2008 Henry Hope Reed Award. The Henry Hope Reed Award is given to an influential supporter of the classical architecture movement who is not an architect by trade. Roger Kennedy's impressive body of work -- as a historian, journalist, teacher and public servant, includes a prescient awareness of and vocal advocacy for the importance of sound environmental practices and sustainability.
