United Parcel Service Inc. has agreed to pay $400 million for 90 Pratt & Whitney PW2000 jet engines to power up to 35 cargo planes that U.P.S. plans to buy, the engine maker said. The engines, the first new series developed by Pratt & Whitney in more than a decade, will be used to power 20 Boeing 757's that U.P.S. has ordered and 15 additional aircraft on which the carrier has options.
