Undertaker: Match
built 445 days ago
Undertaker... The Phenom The Undertaker has ... been at the forefront of some of the most original matches and concepts in WWE history. He is the innovator of Inferno Matches, Casket Matches, and, of course, the famed Hell in the Cell.
The Undertaker The Undertaker's feud with Mankind grew more intense. They began taking their battles into crowds and backstage areas, which was much more unconventional at that time. Things got even more interesting and out of hand when the two warred into the boiler room areas of different arenas. As a result, it became a place of comfort for Mankind and he recognized boiler rooms as his home. All these events would lead up to the first ever Boiler Room Brawl match between the two at SummerSlam 1996. It was the most bizarre match that the WWF had ever put on at that point in time.
After defeating former ally Jake “The Snake” Roberts at WrestleMania VIII, Undertaker became a fan favorite and found himself embroiled in a rivalry with manager Harvey Wippleman. Over the next year, Undertaker fought off several of Wippleman’s associates, including a victory over Kamala in the first-ever Casket Match at Survivor Series1992. Wippleman next produced Giant Gonzales, whom Undertaker defeated at WrestleMania IX and SummerSlam 1993.

With his popularity rising, Undertaker battled such villains as Irwin R. Schyster, Goldust, Vader, Mankind, and King Kong Bundy on and off from 1995 to 1997. During 1995, Kama Mustafa stole the Undertaker's source of power, the urn, and disrespected Taker by turning it into a big gold necklace. He ... cost the Undertaker a chance at being crowned the 1995 King of the Ring. The Undertaker faced Kama in a casket match as a result at SummerSlam 1995. After putting on a great match versus the Supreme Fighting Machine, the Undertaker finally came out on top, closing the lid on Kama. Several weeks later, Taker was assaulted by Yokozuna and King Mabel, which led to an injury of the eye orbital bone which forced The Undertaker into a period of absence for surgery.
In the final match of the evening, the Undertaker made an appearance squaring off against Finlay. After the Undertaker made his every eerie entrance to the ring, it became clear that he could not intimidate the Irishman. With Hornswoggle making a reluctant, but comical, appearance, Finlay put on an impressive showing. In the end, the shillelagh and Hornswoggle didn’t provide enough support for Finlay to defeat the Undertaker. The show went off the air with a staredown between Batista and the Undertaker.
At WrestleMania, March 28, the Undertaker took on the Big Boss Man in a hell in a cell match - and as expected it wasn't as good as it's predecessors. The match was bloody but didn't contain any big bumps. During the match the Big Boss handcuffed the Undertaker to the cell and started beating on him with his nightstick, but the Undertaker and broke loose and regained the initiative and later blasted the Boss Man with the Tombstone to gain the win. After the match the Brood descended from the ceiling onto the roof of the cell, they lowered a noose to the Lord of Darkness, who put it around the neck of the Boss Man, who was hung when the cell was raised.
