Under Fire has finally been completely sketched. Don't panic about the high number, once the site is fully set up the updating schedule will change to twice a week. In the meantime, a lot of the early comics are going to be rescanned so that they fit in the new format.

Indies Under Fire will play at the LOCALization FiLM FESTiVAL in San Luis Obispo. At the San Luis Obispo Public Library (Osos and Palm) on Saturday, June 9 at 8:30 pm. More info.

Under Fire is the brainchild of guitar whiz Cary Sharaf. After performing along side of Billy Squier on his Don't Say No album and your, Sharaf wanted to showcase his own songs and put together Under Fire. The ten song disc was recorded in the mid-80s but remained unreleased for many years due to music business red tape. Thankfully that is all done and fans of pure pop can now hear the great melodic rock effort.

On the organizational front, Under Fire looks at the forms of militarized agencies that are emerging today, including Western defense industries and decentralized terrorist organizations. It explores the forces that contribute to their emergence, whether operating at the level of economy, technology, politics, or ideology.

Kepler’s is sponsoring a screening of the film Indies Under Fire about the decline of independent bookstores in America. The screening will take place at 7:30 pm on September 30 at 700 Santa Cruz Avenue in Menlo Park.
