Ultima is a series of fantasy computer role-playing games from Origin Systems, Inc. Ultima was created by Richard Garriott, a.k.a. Lord British. Several games of the series are considered seminal games of their genre. Today, Electronic Arts holds the brand.

Ultima is not a spell available to the player, but the antagonist Kuja uses it on the party whenever he loses, with disastrous results. The alternative most powerful spell in the game is Doomsday, obtainable by Vivi Orunitia. It is Shadow(Dark)-elemental and hits all enemies, as well as the entire party.

Ultima has a unique composition, and was specifically designed as a rehydration product. In Ultima, defense is stronger than offense because of the actions of the pawns, the long-leapers, and the co-ordinator. These pieces are generally more effective against enemy pieces that have moved out into the center of the board. In addition, the pawns and the long-leapers can usually launch their attacks from their original positions. They don’t have to be ‘developed’ to gain in power.

Capresso "Ultima" eliminates all the inconvenient steps of conventional espresso machines: no more complications with tamping, hot filter holders, or cleaning and rinsing of sieves. Just fill coffee to your liking (7 to 15 grams) into the machine, turn and pull the coffee lever down, and switch on the pump. Within seconds, any size espresso or up to 12 oz. of coffee are ready. The double coffee spout even adjusts to accommodate different size cups. Then pull up and turn lever to prepare the next round of espresso. At the same time the used coffee is automatically discarded into an internal container.

In 1985 Ultima 4 was released. Ultima 4 was a major change to the earlier Ultimas, the first age had ended and the world had changed. Many people including Richard Garriot (aka Lord British) regard Ultima 4 as the best of the series.
