Trains in Ukraine are really cheap. For example: Simferopol to Lviv for 8 Euros ("platzkart") on overnight train with sleeping-car. The problem is that trains are quite popular in Ukraine and you have to buy the tickets well in advance. There are always 3 kinds of ticket counters: 1 group for trains that go on the same day, 1 for trains that go within 7 days and 1 for trains that go within 45 days. Buying tickets for the same day is usually not such a big problem as long as they are still available. But tickets for trains that leave not on the same day you usually have to stand in line for a very long time.

Ukraine got off to a poor start with a 4:0 defeat against Spain, but recovered to beat Saudi Arabia 4:0 in a then-national record victory. In their last group match, a lacklustre performance by Ukraine saw them hold on to second place, as they beat Tunisia 1:0 with a penalty kick scored by Andriy Shevchenko.

Historically, ethnic conflicts emerged in Ukraine on social and religious grounds. The seventeenth century Ukrainian-Polish wars were caused by oppressive serfdom, exorbitant taxes, and discrimination or even elimination of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by Polish magnates. Their appointment of Jewish settlers as tax collectors in Ukrainian villages ... led to strife between these ethnic groups. The settled Ukrainians and the nomadic steppe tribes conflicted since medieval times. From the fifteenth century on, Crimean Tatars raided Ukraine for slaves, and Zaporozhian kozaks were the only defense against them. Even so, Zaporozhians made trade and military agreements with the Crimean khanate: Tatar cavalry often assisted Ukrainian hetmans in diverse wars.

Telenor and Altimo have been in a dispute over their assets in Russia and Ukraine for the past year. Altimo has sought to merge VimpelCom with Kyivstar, which Telenor opposes because it wouldn’t have a controlling stake in the combined company. Altimo holds 32 percent of VimpelCom and Telenor has 26 percent. Oslo-based Telenor Monday said it won’t consider the offer until the existing dispute with Altimo is resolved.

Children currently being placed through the Ukraine program are 18 months of age and older. Families requesting youngest age children must be open to a child between 14-36 months old. Older school age sibling groups are ... in need of families. The children reside in orphanages.
