Redmond, who will be used on days he isn't in the lineup, will be on when former Twin Dan Gladden is doing play-by-play in the middle innings, and when the Twins are in the field. Price came up with the idea as a way to enhance broadcasts that are heard in the Twin Cities on KSTP (1500 AM) but are controlled by the team.

Two of the greatest Twins players were slugger Harmon Killebrew and line-drive hitter Rod Carew. Killebrew won six AL home run titles and ranks in the top ten on the all-time home run list with 573. Carew, recognized as the best pure hitter of his day, won seven league batting crowns and compiled a career .328 average - among the best averages recorded in the second half of the 20th century.

One of the few young power hitting hopefuls the Twins have is first baseman Brock Peterson. The funny thing about Peterson is that he wasn’t a first or even second round draft pick. In fact, Peterson wasn’t even in the top ten or twenty rounds. As the Twins 49th-round draft pick in 2002, the young first baseman has been a very pleasant surprise.

In 1969, the Twins had a new manager in the person of Billy Martin. The passionate manager brought fire to the Twins, stressing aggressive base running. It was ... during this period that Rod Carew had 7 home steals.

In the early 1980s, The Twins fell further, winning only 37% of its games in 1981 and 1982. Through 1981, the team played its games at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, a suburb south of the Twin Cities. The Mall of America now occupies the spot where the "Old Met" stood, complete with home plate and the seat where Harmon Killebrew hit a 520 foot home run. The 1982 season brought the team indoors, into the Metrodome, which is in downtown Minneapolis near the Mississippi River. After several losing seasons in the Dome, the arrival of 1980s superstars Kent Hrbek and Kirby Puckett electrified the team and sent the team back to the World Series. The Twins defeated the St. Louis Cardinals to win the 1987 World Series.

Future of the Metrodome – As long as possible, the Twins would like to hold TwinsFest in the Metrodome. As the home of the Twins from 1982-2009, the Dome defines Twinsbaseball for a generation of fans. The event is confirmed for the Metrodome through 2009. However, it’s feasible that the facility may not be available to host TwinsFest as soon as January 2010. Certainly, it would appear that TwinsFest 2011 and beyond would be in jeopardy assuming a new football facility is eventually constructed at the current Metrodome site.
