The Minnesota Twins is a Major League Baseball team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are in the Central Division of the American League. The team is owned by Minneapolis businessman Carl Pohlad, the third owner of the club (following Clark Griffith and his son Calvin). The team and its famous (or infamous) domed ballpark, the Metrodome, were featured in the 1994 motion picture Little Big League.
The primary challenge to events of this nature in the Twins ballpark is the natural grass playing field. Like concerts, ice-related events can have quite a negative impact on a playing surface – something that is quite concerning to the ballclub. It’s compounded by the calendar and the reality that Minnesota’s weather does not provide your playing field sufficient time to recover for Opening Day?
Minnesota Twins Tickets With a young roster full of both offensive and defensive players, the Minnesota Twins look to compete for the Central Division crown in the foreseeable future. Justin Morneau is the reigning American League MVP, and Joe Mauer?s eye at the plate is impeccable. On the defensive side, Nick Punto snares just about everything at third base and Torii Hunter makes wall-scaling catches in center field. The Twins have to decide whether or not to sign Hunter, Morneau or Santana to a long-term contract. Many Twins fans are vying for the latter two but let?s hope the Twins can keep around all three for the opening of the new ballpark in 2010. If the Twins just keep on winning, good tickets will continue to sell out fast.
The Twins wish to replace the Metrodome with a new ballpark within the next half decade, claiming that the Metrodome generates too little revenue for the Twins to be competitive. In particular, the Twins receive no revenue from luxury suite leasing (as those are owned by co-tenant Minnesota Vikings) and only a small percentage of concessions sales; ... the percentage of season-ticket-quality seats in the Metrodome is said to be very low compared to other stadiums, and the capacity of the stadium is far too high for baseball. However, attempts to spur interest and push legislative efforts towards a new stadium have repeatedly failed. The Dome is thought to be an increasingly poor fit for all three of its major tenants (the Twins, the Vikings and the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team). In fact, in addition to the Twins, the Vikings and Gophers both have new stadium proposals in various stages of development.

As the design of the new Twins-Hennepin County Ballpark continues to evolve, the ballclub along with HOK Sport and Mortenson are currently in the midst of preparations for the next round of the public approval process. Over the next two weeks, the Twins will present the latest ballpark design elements to the Hennepin County Board (Oct. 30), the Ballpark Implementation Committee (Oct. 31) and the Minnesota Ballpark Authority (Nov. 9).
The Minnesota Twins have made their home at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis since 1982. The MLB professional baseball team’s new 40,000-seat ballpark, under construction since the summer of 2007, is scheduled to open in April 2010 for the Minnesota Twins’ 50th anniversary in the Midwest.
