Tropico: Set
built 274 days ago
Tropico is an abandoned mining town from the early 1900?s, located on a hill north of Lancaster in the Antelope Valley. Though it once was open as a sort of museum, it is privately owned and fenced off, and is being marketed as a film location. Some productions that have been shot around the old town include Blazing Saddles, and The Party (where the Peter Sellars character accidentally blows up the set at the beginning of the film).

Tropico's most prominent pioneer settler was William C.B. Richardson, a land owner and developer in the later 1800s. The Richardson House, 1281 Mariposa St. at the corner of Cypress, was build in 1873 and is one of Glendale's most treasured landmarks and the oldest woodframe structure in Glendale.
