Tron 2.0: Killer App is an epic FPS that digitizes players inside the world of a war-ravaged computer system on the verge of collapse from a seemingly unstoppable army of corrupt programs lead by the evil “user” Thorne. As Thorne’s relentless army grows, it infects helpless programs, converting them into savage digital mercenaries aimed at spreading viral agents throughout the system. The security forces in the system struggle to quarantine the corruption, but are hopelessly outnumbered by the mounting army of infected programs. Only a human “user” inside the computer world, armed with an arsenal of powerful digital weapons and vehicles, can even the odds. Players will face off in action-packed warfare against legions of horribly mutated programs as they fight to stop the corruption from spreading.

Buena Vista Interactive, publisher of TRON 2.0, an action/shooter for the PC, is sponsoring a Halloween costume contest. To enter, you need to make your own costume (no ready-to-wear store bought costumes) and submit a picture of yourself at the official site. Prizes includes autographed posters and action figures. But then, isn't being a middle-aged fat guy dressed in a TRON costume its own reward?

[A] smaller deal with Buena Vista Games to make a Gizmondo version of Tron 2.0 was announced early in 2005. It's clear that these games are unlikely to arrive for a number of months... since they were only licensed in the last 3 months or so, and work on them (presumably at Tiger's new internal studios) is only just starting.

[T]his is what is most satisfying about Tron 2.0 - that it takes such keen joy in tackling unfamiliar terrain. Too many games forget to be a genuine fantasy. They're too keen on referring back to the real world - trying to patch up the fiction with elements of fact, or authentic people, places and objects.
