1. The Doors -- Band
   The Doors' self-titled debut LP was recorded in August 1966 and released in the first week of January 1967. It featured most of the major songs from their set, including the 11-minute musical drama, "The End". The band recorded the album in a few days in late August and early September 1966, almost entirely live in the studio with many songs captured in a single take.
2. Molotov -- Band
   Besides the chaotic live show, Molotov has become an outspoken lightning rod in the rock community. In its most recent episode, the band provoked the ire of Jorge Vergara, the owner of the Guadalajara Chivas soccer club. Molotov recorded "Me Vale Vergara," which likened Vergara to a pompous nitwit. Infuriated, Vergara challenged the band to bet on a soccer match between Chivas and the band's hometown club, Los Pumas. Pumas won 1-0, and Vergara made good, forking over the game's earnings—1 million pesos, or around $60,000—to a pediatric AIDS charity in Mexico.
3. Wedding Bands
   Tribute bands, which exclusively cover a single group's work, have ... emerged as popular 2008 wedding music trend. Gigmasters reports that there are tribute bands for many chart-topping bands, spanning every decade from the 1950s to present.    The Beatles were without any question the most popular, most influential of all rock groups. Their influence expressed itself first of all in the simple sociological dimensions of their success, unmatched in pop-music history. But the band ... managed almost singlehandedly to transform the innocent entertainment of rock-and-roll into the artistically self conscious pretensions of rock.

6. Godsmack -- Bands
   Godsmack is a hard rock / alternative metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, USA formed in 1996. They are often categorized by critics as a nu metal band, but most fans insist otherwise; their music contains very few of the essential nu metal elements.
7. The Cure -- Bands
   The first incarnation of what became The Cure was The Obelisk, a band formed by students at Notre Dame Middle School in Crawley, Sussex. The band made their public debut in a one-off performance in April 1973, and featured Robert Smith (piano), Michael Dempsey (guitar), Laurence "Lol" Tolhurst (percussion), Marc Ceccagno (lead guitar) and Alan Hill on bass guitar.[2] In January 1976 former Obelisk guitarist Marc Ceccagno formed Malice with Robert Smith—now ... on guitar—and Michael "Mick" Dempsey—switching to bass—along with two other classmates from St. Wilfrid's Catholic Comprehensive School. Ceccagno soon left, however, to form a Jazz-rock fusion band called Amulet. Increasingly influenced by the emergence of punk rock, Malice's remaining members became known as Easy Cure in January 1977.[3] Smith and Dempsey had, by this time, been joined by Lol Tolhurst from The Obelisk on drums, and new lead guitarist Porl Thompson. Both Malice and Easy Cure also trialed several unsuccessful vocalists before Smith finally assumed the role of Easy Cure's frontman in September of 1977.[4]
8. The Clash -- Bands
   The Clash were nothing if not political, as scores of their tunes attested. As such, the band embodied much of the soul and spirit of the American folk revival and its protest song idealism, where music became a vehicle for political expression. As the band blatantly proclaimed in "Know Your Rights," its songs were often "public service announcements with guitar." At their best, these messages were so firmly enmeshed in the music that they rarely seemed preachy or pedantic. They were just great songs.
9. Pennywise -- Band
   Pennywise was one of the key bands of the punk-revival of the '90s. 10. The Monkees -- Band
    In point of fact, The Monkees, selected specifically to appeal to the youth market, with manufactured personae and carefully produced singles, can be seen to be the direct precursor to the modern proliferation of studio- and corporation-created bands. Millions of people still listen to their music, and it seems likely that Monkees singles will remain a staple on pop-rock and oldies stations for decades to come. In fact, their legacy has been further strengthened by Rhino Entertainment's acquisition of the Monkees franchise from Columbia Pictures in the late 1980s, with remastered editions of both the original television series and their music library now surfacing in stores.
