A dramatic new Willow Tree sculpture for 2007 is The Christmas Story, which reveals the humanity of Mary and Joseph. The two-piece set of Mary holding baby Jesus, and Joseph are the centerpiece of The Christmas Story. The figures are nearly 15” tall, with richly layered colors. These figures mark a shift in scale and coloration for Willow Tree. The elegant movement of Mary’s and Joseph’s garments and their beautifully protective gestures bring this composition to the highest levels of sculptural art to adorn homes or churches.

The Tulip Tree is the tallest of the hardwoods and grows very fast. It likes to intermingle with other broadleaf trees and is found in a large part of North America; from the Great Lakes in the north and all the way down to Florida in the south. In a forest, the Tulip Tree will grow a long limb-free bole that frequently becomes higher than 100 feet. A Tulip Tree growing in the open will instead form a pyramid shaped crown during its youth. Eventually, this pyramid will become egg-shaped as the tree ages. A Tulip Tree can be up to 150 years old.

Christmas Tree growers donated more than 11,000 Christmas Trees to U.S. troops and their families during the 2006 holiday season. The Trees for Troops Program, sponsored by the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, kicked off on Nov. 14, 2006, with the collection of trees in Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Ind. These trees were shipped overseas to Afghanistan, Iraq, the Middle East and sailors in the 5th fleet in the Gulf.

Willow Tree stationery was discontinued effective January 2006. There may be some products still in retail stores, but DEMDACO is no longer manufacturing the Boxed Card Collections, Journals, Notecards or Holiday Cards.
