When listening to Treble Charger's sophomore release, Wide Awake Bored, the main feeling created is one of déjà vu. All the tracks seem vaguely familiar. At first, the tracks seem solid, but soon familiarity breeds contempt and Treble Charger's attempts to be clever just get irritating.
Ruled too uncommercial a drummer for Treble Charger in 1996, a "devastated" Palter began "noodling around" with the only other instrument in his basement apartment, a xylophone, playing the charts of some old-fashioned ragtime he'd learned at school. Soon he rang up Bob Becker of the veteran Nexus percussion ensemble for lessons. Becker happens to be the foremost xylophonist in the world, a bragging right Toronto generally neglects to exercise.

As far as pervious tours, Treble Charger toured in the United States for two years, and plan to tour again when "American Psycho" hits the airwaves in a few weeks. As to how they liked the States, Nori mentions that music there seems more compartmentalized and there is usually less acceptance for a crossover band. "If you're in the wrong venue, you end up getting the finger," he says.

Treble Charger Treble Charger is not a “new" band by any means. They arrived technically in 1992 after a name change from NC-17 (which sparked a threatened lawsuit by a US band with the same name). They fought back slightly by releasing their first “label" record (from their own label, “Smokin’ Worm Records") entitled, indignantly enough, nc-17 . Arriving in an alternative music scene when alternative music was at its peak proved beneficial to Treble Charger, who soon saw their label eaten by the larger Sonic Unyon, and then the colossal BMG.
