The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) announced today the school sites where work will occur for the 2008 Safe Routes to School program. The schools selected were Broadview-Thomson Elementary, Summit K-12, Gatzert Elementary, Sanislo Elementary, and Dunlap Elementary. Each site will receive approximately $70,000 from Bridging the Gap funds for built improvements, such as sidewalks, as well as for extra safety education and enforcement efforts.

The Texas Department of Transportation selected MicroStrategy for the reporting and analysis of timely and accurate data to help improve the safety of Texas roadways. Using MicroStrategy, the Texas Department of Transportation will analyze accident reports to assist the law enforcement community in placing officers in areas where policing may lead to reduced traffic accidents and deaths. MicroStrategy replaced multiple, disparate manual processes and now enables the Texas Department of Transportation to improve decision making and aid transportation planning efforts.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today the contractor will start de-mobilizing temporary precast barrier curb from U.S. 44. These lanes will be open to traffic by the end of the work shift today. Temporary closures will continue on an as needed basis for construction operations, but will be open at the end of the scheduled work shift daily.

Audio Designline CyberGrad, Inc., a value-added reseller for iLinc Communications, will provide remote employees of the U.S. Department of Transportation with Internet-based software training using the iLinc Web conferencing software. Hundreds of employees nationwide will receive online training in five regional offices across the country. In addition, CyberGrad, Inc. will build a Web-based communications center for the agency utilizing online meeting and training rooms for its employees. These rooms will act as virtual training centers for employees.
