The original concept for the Transformers movie was to feature transgender men and women fighting in an intergalactic war. The studios decided that the idea of transexuals in space would be too far-fetched and promptly changed the movie to feature robots instead as a transparent metaphor. The extreme sexual violence in the original cut of the film was toned down for the preteen audience. The warring transexual robots are formed into two opposing factions.

The stage of the Transformers battles are various planets in the universe. A black hole which appears at the end of an intense Transformers battle and others fighting begins to be swallowed by a star & the universe has met the crisis of its disappearance/destruction. The Cybertron forces of justice is led by Optimus Prime. While in order to protect the entire universe, they encounter the inhabitants of various planets, the evil forces of Megatron unfolds a fight.

Actually this new show is an attempt to get the Transformers franchise farther away from the crap-fests that have been the last 4 shows, all of which have been Japanese animes and they have all sucked. Sucked huge Starscream nad.

The Transformers did not quite disappear from American airwaves either... as a fifth season aired in 1988, serving as "best of" collection of the series. It re-aired 15 episodes from the original series, along with The Transformers: The Movie edited into a further five episodes. To help promote the then-new Powermaster Optimus Prime figure, the first new Prime figure since 1984, Sunbow produced new material featuring a stop-motion (and machine prop) version of Powermaster Prime interacting with a boy named Tommy Kennedy. Each episode would be told as a story to Tommy by Optimus Prime, and together they would essentially introduce and close each episode. This time, the intro had clips from both the series and the movie.

After the debut of the Transformers movie and the gradual move away from Generation 1, both the quality and the hype of the Transformers series soon declined. The Transformers had a lesser claim to fame with Beast Wars; introducing Transformers to a whole new generation of viewers in 3D animation. Beast Wars toys... didn't hold a candle to the top-notch quality of the original Transformer toy line.

SuperCrazy - Were you even around for Transformers when the original was out all those years ago? It was possibly the best cartoon series ever made for kids! You probably never watched this - it was amazing for it's time. You have to realise this was made over 20 years ago and cinematics weren't the same as today. This DVD box set is superb and well worth it if you remember Transformers and want to re-live your youth!
