Toyota Supra Parts The high-performance Toyota Supra is a vehicle make that was first produced by the Toyota Motor Company back in 1979 as a sports car/grand tourer. The roots of this vehicle make can be traced back to the Toyota 2000GT, having a direct similarity in the engine and chassis. Four model generations have evolved for more than 2 decades of its existence, until it ceased production in 2002. Every generation have more improved features than the former ones. As a matter of fact, the second generation Toyota Supra or more commonly known as the MK II, have been awarded by Motor trend as the Import Car of the Year and being one of the ten Best list in Car and Driver’s Magazine for two consecutive years in 1983-1984.
The fourth-generation Toyota Supra was part of the Japanese muscle car revolution of the '90s. Sold from 1993-'98, it was a major step up from the previous-generation Supra in both appearance and performance. It was still a rear-wheel-drive two-door hatchback. And it still had a long sloping nose, but Toyota added some serious sex appeal by giving the body more curvaceous lines.

The mkiv Toyota Supra has a sequential turbo setup. What this means is that the #1 turbo (the one at the front of the engine) initially receives all the exhaust gas from the engine. Because its receiving all the exhaust gas, the turbo spools up very quickly and one can be getting boost from 1800rpm (or less). This makes the car feel like a NA 4.0L car when just cruising around town, which feels really great. When you put the "pedal to the metal" the #2 turbo will ... come on line. How this works is that at about 3500rpm, the #2 turbo is pre-spooled by a small amount of exhaust gas being transmitted through it by opening the "exhaust bypass valve". This spins the turbo up to speed but doesn't produce any boost at this point.
The next major change was done in the year 1986, when the Toyota Supra actually emerged with a completely new makeover. The second generation model was equipped with a 3.0 liter DOHC engine. In 1987, another series of metamorphosis was observed. Now the Supra Model was re-launched with a turbocharged engine and anti-lock brakes. The next major redesign occurred in mid-1993. During this period, the fourth and final generation of Supra came into existence with both Turbo and non-Turbo options.
Toyota Supra Though not currently in production, the Toyota Supra remains one of Toyota's most popular models with performance enthusiasts. Available through much of the 1980s and '90s, the Supra was the company's flagship sport coupe. Designed to be more of a grand-touring coupe than a hard-edged sports car, the Supra rewarded owners with its easy-to-drive nature and powerful engines. It ... pioneered new technologies -- it was the first Toyota to get electronic fuel injection and the first Toyota in America to have both a turbocharged engine and antilock brakes.

The legendary Toyota Supra was first launched as the “Celica” Supra in the year 1979 which featured a high-performance sport coupe for the American car enthusiasts. The first generation Supra was stylized with the popular Celica liftback design and was powered with a 2.6-liter inline-6 engine which was the first Toyota-production engine to be equipped with electronic fuel injection. The Supra was available with both a manual and automatic transmission, and came standard with 4-wheel-independent suspension and 4-wheel disc brakes.
