Toy Story 2 (1999): Buzz Lightyear
built 230 days ago
TOY STORY 2 is the expected treat. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, back as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, the top toys in a roomful of play- things-that-play-with-themselves. Other returning voices-and-char- acters include John Ratzenberg's Hamm, Wallace Shawn's dino, Don Rickle's now-married Mr. Potato Head, and Jim Varney's Slinky Dog. The plot: the aforementioned four join Buzz Boy on a rescue mis- sion after Woody is doll-napped by a greedy toy collector (fitting- ly voiced by Wayne Knight). The plot thickener: Woody learns that he's a vintage doll from the fifties after meeting three other toys from that era: Joan Cusack's cowgirl, Kelsey Grammer's prospector (mint-in-box), and a silent-but-spry pony name of Bullseye. And so, while the wee rescuers risk life and molded plastic limb, the pull-string cowboy has his *own* battle to fight: stay and be a "star" forever, or return to the kid that'll love him until he out- grows him?

Toy Story 2 In "Toy Story 2," the fun and adventure continues when Andy goes off to summer camp and the toys are left to their own devices. Things shift into high gear when an obsessive toy collector kidnaps Woody who unbeknownst to himself is a highly valued collectable. It's now up to Buzz Lightyear and the gang from Andy's room - Mr. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, Rex and Hamm - to spring into action and save their pal from winding up as a museum piece. There's plenty of excitement and fun as the toys get into one predicament after another in their daring race to get home before Andy does.

During the end credits of Pixar's 2006 film Cars, a scene from Toy Story is reenacted by toy car versions of Buzz and Woody, playing a toy spaceship car and a Ford "Woody" Wagon, respectively. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks reprised their voices. The last line by Woody... sounds as though it might be directly lifted from the original film.
Toy Story 2 Toy Story 2 is just as wonderful as Toy Story. Of all the films I have been persuaded to watch with my children, these are the two which have the power to lure me from the tasks I meant to get on with, through the intelligence of the script and sheer clarity and sophistication of the humour (on a level with The Simpsons, but without quite the cynicism, violence or darkness). I still laugh out loud, even on the tenth viewing, and am taken with the fascinating layering of ideas - Buzz's identitiy crisis in Toy Story, hilarious and touching, is equalled in Toy Story 2, when Woody begins to think about his own mortality.
Following the storyline of the computer animated feature film of the same name, Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 2 for the Game Boy Color has you on a rescue mission. Woody, super sheriff and beloved toy, has been stolen by a greedy toy collector/dealer and needs your help. You control Woody's friend, Buzz Lightyear, a sci-fi action figure who, before becoming a mere child's toy, was trained by the Universe Protection Unit. You must run, jump, climb, fly and shoot your way through nine scenes of obstacles and puzzles as well as two bonus rounds. You'll even ride a skateboard and a horse!
