The Toronto Raptors are trying to recover from another devastating season, after going 27-55 for the year. The Raptors future looks great, after drafting big man, Andrea Bargnani with the first pick of the 2006 NBA Draft. Andrea Bargnani looks very promising, and is a player who resembles Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks. The Raptors ... have a new GM this year with a great track record, Bryan Colangelo, who put together the explosive Phoenix Suns. The Raptors have also acquired pass-first TJ Ford, who should definitely complement Chris Bosh.

The Toronto Raptors began their NBA life as an expansion franchise in 1995. However, this was not the first time Toronto had hosted an NBA franchise. The forerunner of the NBA, the BAA tipped off its inaugural season in Toronto in 1946 when the Toronto Huskies fell to the New York Knickerbockers. That early Canadian franchise folded but, more than 50 years later, NBA basketball would return to the city of Toronto.
