Toprol XL is generally tolerated well by most patients... a thorough medical evaluation is necessary before prescribing this medication. Patients with medical histories which include Raynaud’s syndrome or other circulation problems, heart block, sick sinus syndrome, slow heart rate, or other heart related health problems, or pheochromocytoma can not take this medication. Patients with medical histories that include asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, depression, diabetes, low blood pressure, liver disease, congestive heart failure, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, or myasthenia gravis may not be able to tolerate Toprol XL or may require continuous and careful monitoring while undergoing drug therapy with this medication.
