Toontown: Battle Cogs
built 650 days ago
In Toontown, players, as Toons, join forces to save the world from the invading robot Cogs - humorless business robots who are attempting to turn the colorful, happy world of Toontown into a corporate metropolis. Because Cogs can't take a joke, Toons use cartoon gags to crack them up!

In Toontown, players create their own character and join together with other players to help save Toontown from the humorless Cogs, a band of bungling business robots attempting to turn the Toons' colorful world into a bleak metropolis. Because the Cogs can't take a joke, Toons can diminish the Cogs' power by choosing from fun gags and jokes to play on them, such as smashing a pie in their face, or squirting them with seltzer water.

The Walt Disney Company's award winning MMORPG*, Toontown Online, is set to hit the shelves across the UK this summer for the first time as a result of a distribution agreement with Greenstreet Software. Toontown Online has been available in the UK for purchase online since May 2004, and already tens of thousands of people have passed through its gates, experiencing its huge, magical universe of unique Disney characters. Players of Toontown create their own Toon character and interact with other players whilst uniting in their quest to defeat the evil robot Cogs.

Teamwork is encouraged in Toontown since low-level Toons frequently need the help of others to complete difficult challenges or perform certain tricks. For example, "Toon-ups" (healing gags) cannot be used by a player on their own character, so to be healed during battle one usually needs another player to use a Toon-up. Some gags ... work better when used in combination with certain other gags; for example, a "trap door" gag is useless until another Toon "lures" the Cog towards it. A "drop" gag (such as a falling anvil) is much more likely to hit if the Cog is first "stunned" by another gag. Conversely, some gags are much less effective when combined with certain other gags; a drop gag (such as a piano) will always miss a Cog that has been lured away from his original spot.

Toontown.com explains: "Evil robots called Cogs are trying to turn this colorful Toon world into a black-and-white metropolis of skyscrapers and businesses. Mickey and his friends are calling on all available Toons to help stop these mechanical menaces by pelting them with cream pies, seltzer water, flower pots, and lots of other toony gags."

There is a playground in each "neighborhood" of Toontown: Toontown Central, Donald's Dock, Daisy Gardens, Minnie's Melodyland, the Brrrgh, Donald's Dreamland, Goofy Speedway, and Chip n' Dale's Acorn Acres. Each playground and neighborhood share a unique theme. Each playground (except for Goofy Speedway & Acorn Acres) connects to two or more neighborhood streets that contain Cogs and Cog buildings. The difficulty increases with each neighborhood passed.
