Tonya Harding is one a rare few female figure skaters to EVER do a triple axel. The second is Michelle Kwan. That's something for her to be proud of. In the skating world, that is, indeed, a feat.So, what went wrong in Tonya's life? She is the trailer trash of celebs these days, with more run-ins with the law than most. Her downfall began, probably right after she was born in Oregon, the home of hippies and tree huggers.
Tonya Harding has been a champion, world-class skater, who affected the sport more than any other single figure in history. She has appeared in TV promos, commercials, and stared in a feature film called Breakaway, and has made numerous public appearances. Tonya is available for skating and teaching seminars, as well as autograph signing appearance. She has ... done appearances that have helped raise thousands of dollars for Charity. She recently visited San Francisco where she was the guest of a civic group, hoping to have her help raise money for local charities in that city. While there, she met with the Mayor, Willie Brown.

Surreal Life' - Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan arrived back from the Olympics to very different receptions, the Los Angeles Times reported. Kerrigan, who won the silver medal for figure skating was greeted with a ticker tape parade at Disney World, while Harding went home to Portland, Ore., to answer questions in connection with a Jan. 6 assault on Kerrigan. From her pornographic wedding night video being released against her wishes to being arrested for domestic battery, Harding has been involved in numerous off the ice problems. In recent years, Harding has resorted to celebrity boxing and even tried a professional boxing career to make money.

Tonya Harding was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She was a two-time US national figure skating champion. She began skating when she was about four years old and showed tremendous promise at an early age. At 5’1 and 105 pounds, Tonya was a very athletic, aggressive skater and was the first American woman to ever make a triple axle in competition. Childhood was extremely difficult. Her mother was allegedly abusive and her father suffered from physical problems that often prevented him from working.

Olympic skater Tonya Harding was booked into a Clark County, Washington lockup in February 2000 on a domestic violence charge after she punched and threw a hubcap at a former boyfriend. Harding, best known for her role in the 1994 attack on skating rival Nancy Kerrigan, was sentenced to three days in jail and 10 days of community service.
