Tony Blair: No God

Blair submitted his resignation to Queen Elizabeth II during a 25-minute closed-door meeting at Buckingham Palace. With his wife, Cherie, he waved to reporters and then traveled to his constituency in northern England, where he is expected to quit as a lawmaker to take up his post with the Quartet of Mideast peace mediators.

In May 2007, before his resignation, it was reported[43] that Blair would be offered a Knighthood in the Order of the Thistle, rather than the Order of the Garter, due to his Scottish connections. No such move has been reported since, and, on St Andrew's Day, the Queen appointed two men to the only openings in the limited Order.

Blair has essentially become a victim of this campaign. When he announced his review of the White Paper goals in late November 2005, it is widely believed that he gave the green light to nuclear although the 'official' version is that no decision has been made. Despite this, Blair is said to be 'convinced' of the pro-nuclear argument.[11]

In October 2003, Blair received treatment for an irregular heartbeat. He felt ill one day and went to a hospital where he was diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia – his heart was beating abnormally fast. He was given a small electric shock to return the heartbeat back to normal and returned home that night. Blair went to work the following day, keeping it low-key.
