The founder of the Tom Joyner Foundation and Reach Media Inc., he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1998 and received the prestigious Marconi Award as the Nation's Leading Network/Syndicated Radio Personality in the country in 2004. A four-time winner of the Billboard Award, he won Impact magazine's prestigious Best DJ of the Year award so many times, it was finally named after him. His foundation has raised more than $30 million to help students attend historically black colleges and universities. He lives in Dallas with his wife.

The Tom Joyner Foundation & Friendship West Baptist Church will host a scholarship luncheon on Monday March 27, 2006 at the 94.5 KSOUL studios located inside the Valley View Mall. You’re invited to join Tom Joyner, Sybil Wilkes, Senator Royce West, the honorable Ron Kirk, comedian Rickey Smiley and a host of other Dallas/Fort Worth notables as Tom hosts this scholarship event. 100% of the proceeds will benefit the rebuilding of Dillard University, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

At that time, the Tom Joyner Foundation raised more than $1.5 million to provide $1,000 scholarships to students from the New Orleans' HBCUs who had to transfer to other schools while the city was under water. In addition, each school has received an additional $100,000 over the past year.
