Tom Cruise: Deal
built 236 days ago
United Artists has set Tom Cruise to star for director Bryan Singer in the untitled WWII thriller that will begin production in the summer. Chris McQuarrie wrote the script with Nathan Alexander. Singer and McQuarrie will produce, and Alexander will be co-producer. UA partners Cruise and Paula Wagner made a deal last week for the film, which is the first original project teaming Singer and McQuarrie since “The Usual Suspects.”

Dan Snyder, the Washington Redskins owner who has a financing deal with Cruise/Wagner Productions, is ... defending the star. “Tom is a winner. That’s a fact,” Snyder writes in an e-mail. “He is a terrific actor, a terrific father and a terrific person. I’m proud to be his friend.”
Sydney Pollack directs Tom Cruise in this legal thriller based on John Grisham's best-seller. Cruise plays Mitch McDeere, an ambitious young lawyer who accepts an unmatchable offer from a Memphis law firm only to discover that the deal was too good to be true.
