Lorenz calculates that erosion caused by wind-blown sand, wind-driven waves and other atmospheric forces is 400 times weaker on Titan than on Earth. Such tectonic forces as earthquakes, mountain building and other outputs of Titan's mantle heat engine are only 50 times weaker on Titan than on Earth. Tides and cratering are broadly comparable on the two bodies, he adds.

Titan is locked in orbital resonance with the small, irregularly-shaped satellite Hyperion; the two bodies orbit in a 3:4 ratio, respectively. A "slow and smooth" evolution of the resonance—in which Hyperion would have migrated from a chaotic orbit—is considered unlikely, based on models. Hyperion likely formed in a stable orbital island, while massive Titan absorbed or ejected bodies that made close approaches.[15]

Maar er is voldoende vloeibaar ethaan en methaan beschikbaar om op de winterpool meren en zelfs een paar zeeën te vormen.
