Tinnitus: Persons
built 314 days ago
Most of the knowledge and therapeutic options available to those who experience tinnitus have been encapsulated above. Individuals have placed advertisements in major otolaryngology, audiology, and neurology journals seeking therapeutic help. Such advertisements have yielded a great deal of interest but little of substantive therapy. Unfortunately, because so little is known about the causes of tinnitus, little therapy is available to eliminate the problem. Frequently, therapy that is helpful to one person is not helpful to the next. Thus, many have adopted the philosophical outlook that tinnitus is a chronic or psychologic disease and is managed and not cured.

Some persons with severe TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) arthritis have severe tinnitus. Generally these persons say that there is a "screeching" sound. This is another somatic tinnitus. TMJ is extremely common -- about 25% of the population. The exact prevalence of TMJ associated tinnitus is not established, but presumably it is rather high too.

A scientific analysis of ordinary everyday sounds has demonstrated some that are surprisingly similar to the experimental sounds which create temporary tinnitus. Prior personal experience had already shown the connection between such exposure and temporary ringing. These sounds are illustrated in spectral diagrams.

Calcarea carbonica: When this remedy is indicated, tinnitus may be experienced alone or with vertigo. The person may have hearing problems, or cracking and pulsing sensations in the ears. People who need this remedy are usually chilly, easily fatigued, crave sweets, and feel overwhelmed and anxious when unwell.

Some persons with tinnitus simply ignore it, whereas others are severely bothered by it. This factor of tolerance is apparently more important than the loudness of the tinnitus. Tinnitus loudness measurements indicate that some persons with very loud tinnitus tolerate it very well, while others with a mild tinnitus claim to be on the verge of suicide if the tinnitus cant be controlled.

Coffea cruda: This remedy may be helpful to an excitable, nervous person with tinnitus accompanied by extremely sensitive hearing and a buzzing feeling in the back of the head. People who need this remedy often have insomnia from mental overstimulation.
