built 198 days ago
The achievements of golfers such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Lorena Ochoa highlight a new athleticism associated with a sport that was once considered "leisurely." Today's amateur and professional golfers, men and women alike, are stronger, more flexible, and wielding more powerful swings than ever before.

[W]here does Tiger Woods fit into all this? First of all, it's important to point out that Woods did not repudiate blacks or blackness. He paid tribute to the black golfers who came before him, and he embraced his black father. What he repudiated was one of America's founding and most traumatic racial myths -- the one-drop rule, according to which anyone possessing even a trace of black blood was -- and to some degree, still is -- considered black.

Tiger Woods was born Eldrick Woods on December 30, 1975, in Cypress, California. He was the only child of Earl and Kultida Woods. His parents identified their son's talent at an unusually early age. They said that he was playing with a putter before he could walk. The boy was gifted not only with exceptional playing abilities, but he ... possessed a passion for the sport itself. Woods first came to notoriety on a syndicated talk show when he beat the famed comedian and avid golfer Bob Hope in a putting contest.

Tiger Woods IS well on his way to becoming the greatest golfer ever, there's just no denying that. But he is ... the most arrogant, classless, and inconsiderate a**hole to ever play the game. He makes a horrible role model for todays' youth with his uncontrollable and incessant cursing, spitting and other childish antics. His defenders say "Well, he's still young, he'll outgrow it." Get real, he's THIRTY years old and should be acting like a responsible adult instead of the spoiled brat that he is...never worked a day in his life. Because of his physical talents, people tend to dismiss or deny his inappropriate behavior. He does not represent the 'gentlemen's game' well at all.
