Thrush
built 198 days ago
Similar in size and shape to the American Robin but slighter in build, the Varied Thrush is a boldly patterned bird. In the male, the rust-colored belly and throat are interrupted by a black breast-band; the female has a lighter, grayish band. A similar band lines the face at the eye. A rust-colored stripe lines the head above the eye-band, and the crown is bluish gray, as are the back and tail. The wings are boldly patterned with slate, black, and rust. Female patterning is similar, but the back is brownish.

Thrush will overgrow if there is an abundant food supply. A common risk factor of thrush overgrowth is when a person has diabetes. This occurs because the thrush fungus uses the excess blood sugar as energy.

The company continued to grow into the late 1990's, when Thrush began offering roll-off dumpsters for construction debris and clean-ups. These containers range from a 20 - to 40 yard capacity. Businesses in need of trash containers ... can take advantage of Thrush's commercial service. The containers range from a 2 - to 10 yard capacity. Two new items in their rental inventory were introduced in 1995, (mobile office trailers and on-site storage containers).

The male Varied Thrush sings to defend his territory. The song is most often heard at dawn, dusk, and after a rain shower. The female builds the nest in a conifer at the base of a branch against the trunk, usually 5-15 feet off the ground. The nest is a bulky, open cup made of twigs, moss, leaves, and pieces of bark, lined with soft grass and rootlets. The female lays 3-4 eggs that she incubates. Both parents feed the young.

Thrush may take several weeks to cure, so it is important to try not to spread it. Don't freeze milk that you pump while you have thrush. Change disposable nursing pads often and wash any towels or clothing that come in contact with the yeast in very hot water (above 122° F).

Thrush infections of the mouth is contagious, and care should be taken to prevent its spread. Mothers who are breast-feeding must be particularly careful if their babies develop thrush because the infection may be passed back and forth between a mother's nipple and the baby's mouth.
