Thomas Jefferson: Nation
built 236 days ago
Thomas Jefferson Thomas Jefferson wanted the 13 colonies to become a nation. He was a good writer, so he wrote letters asking people to help the nation become free. He wrote letter after letter; 50,000 letters during his lifetime.
This is a scholarly but very readable analysis of the personal theology of Thomas Jefferson. It details his personal beliefs which were surprisingly radical and his continual resistance to the establishment of a state religion in the young United States of America. Outlines the foundational ideas that influenced the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Definitely Jefferson would not agree that the USA was founded as a Christian nation.

The greatest writer of the early American republic, and the greatest exponent of natural rights and the dangers of government power was Thomas Jefferson. It is no wonder then, that Jefferson has been so aggressively vilified by the partisans of political correctness. Jefferson was likewise disdained by many in the 19th and early 20th century who, quite correctly, saw his ideas as an obstacle to the large national regime they wished to build.
