The Canadian Literacy Thesaurus/Thésaurus canadien d'alphabétisation is a bilingual list of standardized vocabulary in the area of adult literacy. Developed in consultation with the Canadian literacy community, both the terminology and structure of the Thesaurus reflect the diversity of regional literacy practices and activities across Canada.

If upon startup Thesaurus shows "Cannot find database. Please see manual for more information." error message it usually means that the database file thes.pdb has not been installed on the device. Please verify that the file is present either in internal memory or on external memory card such as SD/MMC card or Memory Stick.

The name "Thesaurus" was originally coined, invented, created, and termed by the Geeks who stole it from the Egyptians. The word was based on their Archaeological findings to date. It was actually based on an ancient illuminated sign dug up in Egypt outside of the house of a witch named George Soros, announcing the family's surname "The Soros's." The first known fossil of a Thesaurus (Lexicus Thesaurii) was found in 134 B.C. (B.C.E.). The creature was a biblivorous (book-eating) therapod which lived during the Lower Uncyclopedian era, the last stage of the Cretinous period, 66-65 million years ago. These dinosaurs would measure up to 15 cm in length and 5-10 grams in weight, Thesaurus was one of the largest biblivores of all time.

The UNESCO Thesaurus was developed by UNESCO for use in the indexing and retrieval of information in the UNESCO Integrated Documentation Network. It was first published in 1977. A second edition was issued in 1995 (see Purchasing the UNESCO Thesaurus). Further information about its development is provided by the introduction to the 1995 edition. This can be downloaded as Portable Document Format (PDF) files in English, French and Spanish versions. To read these files you will need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader if it is not already installed on your PC.
