The X Men: X-Men
built 779 days ago
Following the death of Professor X and the ensuing battles that the X-Men had against their enemies which saw the destruction of the Xavier Mansion, Magneto saw for himself an opportunity to lead all mutants before they were destroyed. He quickly killed Stryfe and rallied the Mutant Liberation Front to his cause, as well as other mutants, some former X-Men. He then attacked the White House, where he took the government officials hostage. The President activated the Sentinels in secret. Easily stopping the Sentinel attacks against his newly-created White House base, Magneto became somewhat confidant and when Psylocke and Storm arrived to warn about the future, Magneto tried to prove how easily he could halt any attacks made on him by destroying the incoming Sentinels. Unfortunately for Magneto, one of the Sentinels contained a nuclear warhead, which destroyed the White House, Magneto, and all of the mutants under his command.

YOU, ME AND DUPREE The discovery of an antibody that can turn mutants into normal humans results in full-scale war in this third entry in the X-Men saga. At the core of the controversy is a little boy whose body produces the antibody, and a tycoon whose personal stake prompts him to begin mass-production of this new "cure." But while Professor Charles Xavier and his X-Men are leery but open to the possibilities, the wrathful Magneto and his mutants set out to annihilate every trace of the antibody--using the resurrected Jean Grey (now known as Dark Phoenix) as an unstoppable weapon. Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Ian McKellen, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Shawn Ashmore, Aaron Stanford, Vinnie Jones and Patrick Stewart star. Directed by Brett Ratner; written by Simon Kinberg & Zak Penn.

The concluding events of the second X-Men movie left many unanswered questions: Did Lady Deathstrike really die? Did Jean Grey survive from her plunge into the Alkali Lake? What other secrets does Wolverine's past hold? Will Iceman ever hook-up with the foxy Rogue? Well, maybe fans aren't too concerned with that last question, but X2's foreshadowing is an obvious hint of what fans can expect in the new X3 movie. While fans meticulously dissect every scene in X2 for possible theories and hints, game developer Z-Axis took the matter into its own hands by developing a game to ship just before X3's release (tentatively titled X-Men: The Official Movie Game, but we like to call it X3) as a story link between the X2 and X3 movies.

When it appeared all hope was lost, the lone remnant of the Marvel Universe’s X-Men appeared. The mysterious man known as Bishop told Magneto of a better world, a world that should have been. Magneto believed Bishop and sent his X-Men on various missions to change history. They succeeded. Magneto and his X-Men freed the world from Apocalypse’s tyranny and the original timeline was restored. But something else happened as well.
Early X-Men issues introduced the team's arch nemesis Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants featuring Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Mastermind and the Toad. Ironically, the cast of this comic book series, which would in decades hence become a vehicle for stories about prejudice and racism, was originally racially and ethnically homogeneous, seemingly comprised entirely of the WASP-type character that was the de facto model for most comic book heroes at that time. Furthermore, their arch nemesis was Magneto, a character later portrayed as a Jewish concentration camp survivor, whose key followers, son and daughter, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were Gypsies (Roma), an ethnic minority in Europe. Only one new X-Man was added, Mimic/Calvin Rankin, but soon left due to his temporary loss of power.
Marvel Comics Years before Charles Xavier would form the X-Men, he chose to sacrifice his own life to save that of Erik Lehnsherr, the man who would one day be known as Magneto. This led to the creation of a new timeline and reality. The X-Men of the normal Marvel Universe would never be, but Magneto would form his own team of mutant heroes, naming them X-Men in memory of his fallen friend. Magneto would do his best to live up to Xavier’s dream of peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants, but ultimately, he would fail.
