The Wells

The Wells clock is an astronomical clock in the north transept. The surviving mechanism, dated to between 1386 and 1392, was replaced in the 19th century, and was eventually moved to the Science Museum in London, where it continues to operate. It is the second-oldest surviving clock in England.[36] The dial represents the geocentric view of the universe, with sun and moon revolving round a central fixed earth. It still has its original medieval face, and may be unique in showing a philosophical model of the pre-Copernican universe with the earth at its centre. As well as showing the time on a 24 hour dial, it ... reflects the motion of the sun and the moon, the phases of the moon, and the time since the last new moon.[37] When the clock strikes every quarter, jousting knights move around above the clock and the Quarter Jack bangs the quarter hours with his heels. An outside clock opposite Vicars' Hall, placed there just over seventy years after the interior clock, is connected with the inside mechanism.

The Wells are a five-piece Indie Rock Band that started gigging around Brisbane mid 2005. They perform original material (written by brothers Ben & Josh Eckersley) which displays great pop sensibility with big dirty smears of Blues and Country…. and these boys can really sing. Their focus on vocal harmonies and catchy melodic hooks add a great depth to the band’s overall appeal, as their densely layered instrumentation enriches each song. They all hail from the sleepy country-town of Lismore, NSW and slowly migrated to the city of Brisbane after they heard they still accept food stamps up here.

Two rare plant species, the Slender Blue Flag iris and Sassafras, have been sighted on the Reserve as well. Both species are at the northern range of their limit and are rare in this geographical region.

The Wells score ranged from 2 points (61 patients) to 8 points (1 patient); the median score was 1. Table 3 shows results of use of the categorized Wells rule without findings on the D-dimer assay. Five hundred seven (39%) patients were at low risk for DVT (score 0), 321 (25%) were at medium risk (score of 1 or 2), and 467 (36%) were at high risk (score 3). The observed prevalence of DVT was 12.0% (61 of 507 patients) among low-risk patients, 16.5% (53 of 321 patients) among medium-risk patients, and 37.5% (175 of 467 patients) among high-risk patients. When a threshold was introduced between the lowest score and the other 2 scores, the sensitivity was 78.9%, specificity was 44.3%, negative predictive value was 88.0%, and negative likelihood ratio was 0.48.
