The Veronicas are an Australian pop rock duo geared to appeal to either teen age girls, middle-aged men or both. Identical twins Lisa and Jess Origliasso dress like bad girls and play guitar-centric songs about love and rebellion while wearing tons and tons of eye makeup. This may be a very savvy marketing move, but to the girls' credit, they come off as intelligent kids rather than T.A.T.U.-like self-exploiters and the songs themselves are well-written and catchy.

The Veronicas sang at many events and award shows. This experience made them comfortable in front of an audience and ... help build their self confidence. Their talent started to draw the attention of agents and talent agencies. Still in their teens, the duo released three teen pop albums, but only as Lisa and Jessica. Television happened in 2001 and the girls were seen in the Australian children's series Cybergirl.

After a breathtaking performance that stole the hearts of the people attending the NAMM Convention in Anaheim, CA, The Veronicas skipped into the Bus that they apparently love so fervently. "Songwriting is kind of like therapy..." expresses Lisa. There is much truth to be found in this. The girls ... encourage songwriters to jam frequently, and it just so happens that they were jamming with Rob (their guitarist) in the Bus shortly before their show. Apparently, practice is the key to perfection.

With a reputation for cutting edge music, Sire Records flipped for The Veronicas and the girls returned the kudos by signing on board. Work immediately began in Los Angeles on their major label debut, utilizing a team of top-flight producers that included, among others, Max Martin (Britney Spears), Don Gilmore (Linkin Park), Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson) and Toby Gad (Enrique Iglesias). "We were given a one-in-a-billion shot," Jess remarks. "And we were determined to deliver," Lisa finishes.
